    The journey of our school began in 1963 when missionary Paul Smith and his wife Virginia arrived in Jordan with a vision to establish a school that would provide quality education. In 1967, the foundation was set with the purchase of land. By 1974, construction had begun, and the school officially opened its doors, welcoming its first 30 students in kindergarten and primary grades. Growth was steady, and in 1977, under the directive of King Hussein, the school’s boundary wall was built. By 1978, enrollment had increased to 260 students, expanding to include sixth grade, and introducing drama, music, and French language programs. To accommodate this growth, a new kindergarten building was constructed in 1979. Two years later, in 1981, an additional floor was added to the primary section, along with the construction of a closed sports hall, setting the stage for further development.

    In 1987, the school celebrated its first graduating class, marking a significant milestone. That same year, the ABS Band was established, and new facilities including a high school building, a library, science labs, and a theater were added. By 1990, technology was introduced into the curriculum with the launch of the school’s first computer lab, officially beginning IT education. In 1991, the school, along with several other Baptist institutions, was officially handed over to the Jordanian Baptist community. During this time, two additional kindergarten classes were also introduced. The school continued to expand academically, launching the IGCSE program in 1996. Entering the new millennium, the year 2000 saw further physical expansion with the construction of a new floor, the establishment of a dedicated music wing, and the introduction of the Character Education program, reinforcing the school’s commitment to holistic student development.

    The early 2000s brought significant advancements to the school’s curriculum and facilities. In 2004, a Hotel Management department was introduced, expanding career-oriented educational opportunities. Between 2005 and 2006, the school achieved international ICDL certification, and the ABS Band grew to include three levels: Intermediate, Concert, and Symphonic. Technological innovation was also a priority, with the establishment of the first Apple Macintosh computer lab in 2006. The school continued to modernize, constructing a large, two-story building in 2007. In 2010, a new football field was built, and the Cambridge International Program (CP) was launched. The school received national recognition, winning the Al Hassan Award for Scientific Excellence for its “Be an Inventor” program and its distinguished music program. The same year, the school fully digitized its curriculum by introducing interactive whiteboards and launching its first website. By 2011, the school had secured health accreditation and adopted the TAMAM Project, an educational reform initiative aimed at enhancing learning experiences.

    In 2016, the school was nominated for the International Baccalaureate (IB) program, a prestigious milestone in its academic journey. That same year, the main theater underwent renovations to enhance students’ artistic experiences. By 2018, the school officially launched the IB Diploma Program (IBDP), further diversifying its academic offerings. The commitment to technological integration continued with the establishment of a new computer lab in 2019. In 2020, all kindergarten and primary classrooms were equipped with new interactive screens, transforming the learning experience. The years 2023 and 2024 marked an era of forward-thinking educational development, with the establishment of new facilities aligned with 21st-century skills. The school launched ABS Think Hub, a business incubator fostering entrepreneurship and innovation. Additionally, it introduced project-based learning stations covering key themes such as environment, technology, human rights & political development, scientific research, and entrepreneurship. The school also adopted a social-emotional learning approach, ensuring a well-rounded education that prioritizes students’ psychological, social, and academic growth.

    Since its inception, the school has experienced remarkable growth in student enrollment. In 1974, the school opened with just 31 students. By 1978, this number had grown to 260, and by 1981, it had reached 311. Fast forward to 2024, and the school proudly serves 1,352 students, reflecting its strong reputation and continued commitment to academic excellence.

    The school’s impact can be seen through its growing number of graduates. In 1978, the first class graduated with only 16 students. By 1993, the number had increased to 22 graduates, and in 2003, it had risen to 49. In 2024, the school celebrates the graduation of 110 students, highlighting its role in shaping future leaders and professionals.

    Throughout its journey, the school has remained dedicated to academic excellence, holistic education, and continuous innovation. These milestones reflect its unwavering commitment to fostering a learning environment that nurtures both intellectual and personal growth.
